GoodWe inverter repair process

Founded in 2010, GoodWe has been manufacturing single- and three-phase inverters for residential and commercial use as well as energy storage solutions.

Solargain has a thorough knowledge of GoodWe products, and our CEC-accredited technicians can help you diagnose and recover your faulty unit fast, properly and economically.

Whilst our ISO certification demonstrates our commitment to high quality and safety standards, our countrywide presence and solid manufacturer relationships allow us to maintain competitive prices.

Our extensive service procedure involves:

  • Visiting your property, examining and testing your inverter
  • Sourcing replacement parts from the manufacturer
  • Fixing the faulty parts (if they are repairable) or recommending a new model

GoodWe inverters come with a standard 5.5-year warranty. If you require an initial inspection, we recommend booking an annual solar health check whereby we can gather all information required to complete a GoodWe warranty claim. If the warranty claim is approved, GoodWe will subsidise the labour for this attendance when we replace the inverter.

Known issues with GoodWe inverters

The two main GoodWe inverter ranges sold in Australia are the NS and the DNS series.

Here is a guide to help you identify any potential issue with these models:

Yellow power light

  • A solid power light means the unit and Wi-Fi are on.
  • A fast-blinking light indicates a resetting Wi-Fi.
  • If the light is blinking twice and then turning off, and doing this in cycle, the issue might come from the Wi-Fi router rather than the inverter.
  • If the light cycles from solid to off, your problem does not come from your inverter, but more likely from the Wi-Fi server.
  • If the power light is off, it might simply be because the Wi-Fi option has been left inactive.

Green run light

  • A solid light shows that the inverter is feeding power. It should remain this way all the time.
  • If it turns off, verify the solar supply main switch in your meter box, as there might be a system fault if all isolators are on.

Red fault light

  • A red fault light can signal an issue with your system. Try resetting your inverter.
  • If performing a shutdown doesn’t fix the issue, contact us to talk about your warranty options.

If your inverter has a solid green light and no red light but you believe it has performance issues, follow our yield-monitoring tips below or secure an inverter health check.

Monitoring your GoodWe inverter

To scroll the menu, use the arrow button located on the right of the screen, but don’t hold it for too long or it will move to the “second level menu”, which you don’t need to monitor your yield. Use quick presses only to move the menu from its status – i.e. “normal” – to “E-today” and uncover your daily production in units. The best moment to do this is at the end of the day, before the inverter shuts down.

Collecting this data a few days in a row will allow you to compare your yield to others around you and help you determine whether your production is unusual.
