Is your Sharp JH1600E inverter no longer working? Has it developed a d-21 fault?

What is a d-21 fault?

This is caused by excessive voltage transients on the input or output of the inverter. It is highly likely that an external factor such as lightning or a power surge on the grid caused the issue.

Will my warranty or household insurance policy cover a d-21 fault?

If it is clear that you inverter is suffering from a d-21 fault, it will not be covered by Sharp’s warranty. Extraneous events like lightning strikes and power surges are rarely covered under warranty. However, you may be able to make a claim on your home insurance policy. You will need to check directly with your insurer.

What’s the best way of resolving a d-21 fault?

The simplest way to replace your faulty Sharp inverter is to arrange an inverter health check with Solargain. One of our qualified technicians can inspect your system, confirm if a d-21 fault is occurring and, if so, can install a replacement unit, all in the one visit. We recommend replacing this particular model with a 1.5kW solar power inverter. The Fronius Galvo 1.5 is a great choice as it is covered by an excellent warranty and is a similar capacity to the Sharp JH1600.

If you would like to make a claim on your home insurance policy, we can also walk you through the process. You may like to consider upgrading your unit to a larger inverter to achieve greater energy output from your solar power system.
