About Aero-Sharp inverters

Aero-Sharp inverters have been installed in Australian households since as early as 2008, however, sadly they have since gone out of business. Their transformer-based inverters came in the following sizes:

  • 1kW
  • 1.5kW
  • 2kW
  • 3kW

While most Aero-Sharp inverters came with a five-year warranty, some came with a promotional ten-year warranty. As the extra five-year warranty was held with the manufacturer (which has now ceased operations), it is unlikely to be honoured at this point - however, our team at Solargain are here to help!

Most Common faults with Aero-Sharp inverters

This fault occurs when the internal AC fuse blows. A grid volt error in your Aero-Sharp inverter means that the AC fuse may have blown or the AC board may have failed. If the AC fuse is replaced and immediately blows again, it means there’s a short on the AC board and your inverter will need to be replaced. Thankfully, the cost of replacing your inverter is included in our Solargain solar health checks.

Is a grid volt error covered under warranty or by my household insurance policy?

If your Aero-Sharp inverter needs replacing, is still under warranty, and was installed by our team at Solargain, we’ll honour your warranty with an equivalent replacement inverter. You’ll still need to book an inverter health check, as the manufacturer’s warranty doesn’t cover the call-out fee. Depending on your individual policy, you may be able to claim this kind of fault under your household insurance.

How do I fix a grid volt error?

Call us at Solargain to resolve your grid volt error by booking your system for an inverter health check. Our technicians will replace the AC fuse and if necessary, replace the faulty unit as well.

If your inverter is no longer covered by warranty or if another installer fitted it, unfortunately, you’ll need to cover the cost of a replacement inverter and earthing.

Call Solargain today on 1300 73 93 55 or contact us here. to book your inverter health check and get your system back up and running.

Water entering the installation somewhere is the most common cause of this fault. We recommend that you book a maintenance service to have this issue resolved.

If your Aero-Sharp solar inverter develops a ground fault, it may be an issue with how the unit is earthed; however, this can be repaired. If we rule out a leaking earth issue, the earth fault may exist internally in the inverter, which means your inverter will need to be replaced.

Will my warranty or household insurance policy cover a ground fault?

Aero-Sharp inverters were installed in Australia between 2008 and 2011 before the company went into liquidation in 2012, and these came with a 5-year warranty. If your unit was installed by our team at Solargain and needs to be replaced, we’ll check whether it’s still covered by warranty and, if it is, will honour that warranty by providing you with an equivalent replacement.

Please note: the manufacturer doesn’t cover the call-out fee for Solargain to carry out the replacement, so you will need to cover this. It should also be noted that it is unlikely that your household insurance policy will cover this type of fault.

What’s the best way to resolve a ground fault?

The first step to resolving a ground fault is to book an inverter health check with our service team at Solargain. Our team of qualified technicians will establish whether there’s an earthing issue that can be repaired, or if the unit will need replacing.

If your inverter is out of warranty or if it was installed by someone else, you’ll need to pay for a replacement inverter. We recommend a Fronius Galvo inverter, particularly if you’re on a higher feed-in tariff, as it’s the same size as your existing inverter and will make for an easier installation.

If your inverter is experiencing a system error, it will need to be replaced, as this kind of fault cannot be repaired.
Fault Code Description Remedy
BIT Failure Internal component has failed The inverter needs to be replaced.
Ground Fault This could indicate an earth fault or, if permanent, the board may have fused. We recommend you book a maintenance service to have a technician check for an earth leak. If none is detected, the inverter will need to be replaced.
PV1 Over Volt Internal component has failed The inverter needs to be replaced.
PV2 Over Volt Internal component has failed The inverter needs to be replaced.
System Error Internal component has failed The inverter needs to be replaced.
Grid Volt Error An AC fuse may have blown or the AC board may be fused. We recommend you book a maintenance service to have a technician check the AC fuse in the inverter and the AC board. The inverter may need replacing.
PV Over Power Internal component has failed The inverter needs to be replaced.
Grid Freq Error This fault may indicate an energy provider issue or the AC board may have fused If the fault is intermittent, this could be a legitimate power distributor issue. If it is permanent, the inverter will need replacing.
TSV1 Failure Internal component has failed The inverter needs to be replaced.
TSV2 Failure Internal component has failed The inverter needs to be replaced.
Inverter Dead Internal component has failed If all the isolators are in the "on" position, then the inverter needs to be replaced.

How do I submit a warranty claim for my Aero-Sharp inverter?

If Solargain installed your Aero-Sharp inverter and the unit is still within its warranty period, we will happily assist you with your warranty claim. You can speak with one of our customer service representatives by calling us on 1300 73 93 55 to get started.

What if my Aero-Sharp inverter is no longer covered by warranty?

Even if your inverter is out of warranty, we can still help get it back up and running. When you book a health check with Solargain we will test your system, replace any fuses that have blown and carry out any necessary repairs, where possible.

If your unit can’t be repaired we will bring a replacement inverter along with us and swap them over, all in one site visit, reducing the call-out fee you will need to pay. As the Aero-Sharp is a transformer-based inverter and therefore uses a different earthing system, to keep your solar system operational you will need to replace it with another inverter and have the solar array earthed.
