About Latronics inverters
Latronics is an Australian manufacturer who produced 1.2kW and 2.5kW solar power inverters. The older models, which were installed in 2009-2011, came with a 5-year warranty, but more recent ones only carry a 3-year warranty. With refurbished units, this warranty drops to 12 months.

Latronics inverters are outdated technology and incompatible with current models available, thus Solargain recommends upgrading any Latronics system in fault. Please note upgrading may affect your feed in tariff, this needs to be reviewed on a case by case basis.
The older models, installed circa 2009-2011, came with a 5-year warranty. Standard warranty on a new unit is 3 years. Refurbished units have 12 month warranty.
Latronics inverters are Australian-made products manufactured in Queensland. They originally came in the following models, known as ‘PVEdge’ range:
- PVE1200
- PVE2500
Latronics does not cover any labour costs as part of its warranty, given that its inverters are plug-and-play (and can, thus, be returned by the customers). As such, a health check fee will be charged for if attendance by a technician is requested.
- No lights: Lights failing on your Latronics inverter can be the result of a faulty internal DC breaker or blown fuses.
- Flashing 50% light (with 25% light off): This fault indicates you may need to check the solar supply main switch in your meter box.
- Flashing 75% light (with 50% light off): This error means you need to check the solar supply switch in the main switch board and the isolating switches on your inverter.
- Under producing: If your Latronics inverter is failing to produce the number of kWh you’d expect for this time of year (for example only 25% during the peak of summer), it could be a sign that fuses on your roof may have blown.
As most Latronics customers are on a higher feed-in tariff, the capacity of the inverter cannot be increased if they want to keep receiving STCs to reduce costs.
Because their size isn't standard, 1.2kW models cannot be swapped for another manufacturer's equivalent model. As such, Latronics customers with 1.2 kW units have the option to purchase a new PVE1200 or a refurbished unit. The 2.5kW model can be replaced with a Fronius Galvo 2.5, but this requires the entire system to be rewired, incurring a $1000 fee on top of the cost of the inverter. Consequently, it’s more cost-effective to replace the entire system (including the panels) with a new one.

| 50% | Grid out of Range | If the 50% light is on intermittently (i.e. flashing), it can be due to a legitimate grid voltage issue. If it's lit constantly, though, you should check if the isolators - and particularly the solar supply main switch - are on. If they are, the unit may need replacing. |
| 75% | Grid out of Range | If the 75% light is on intermittently (i.e. flashing), it can be due to a legitimate grid voltage issue. If it is on permanently, though, you should check if the isolators - and particularly the solar supply main switch - are on. If they are, the unit may need replacing. |
| 100% | Overload | The 100% light should only be lit when the system is overloaded during perfect solar conditions. |
| Loud noise | If you hear a loud noise, it is likely the fan is in the process of failing. You can order a new fan for $260. | |
| Inverter dead | If it appears your inverter is dead, you should check if the isolators - and particularly the solar supply main switch - are on. If they are, the unit may need replacing. We suggest you book a health check in order for a technician to verify if the problem can be fixed by replacing the internal DC switch (for an additional $110). If not, they will be able to replace your system. | |
| Production lights lower than expected | If the lights on your inverter don't shine as brightly as you'd expect, we suggest you book it in for a health check and ask that our technicians check and replace the fuses on the roof if required. |
Latronics inverters have a grey cover and four lights running down the left-hand side of the casing. On the right-hand side is a DC circuit breaker along with a small screen. This screen displays a cumulative total of your production in kWh which you can use to measure your inverter’s performance.
If your Latronics inverter is experiencing issues and is still under warranty, we can organise a replacement unit. However, Latronics warranty claims only include a retrofit inverter, which means it doesn’t cover any of the labour costs associated with removing the old unit and replacing it with a new one.

If your faulty Latronics inverter is no longer under warranty, we suggest you book in for an inverter health check with us. We will attempt to repair your unit and replace any blown fuses at no extra charge. If we’re unable to repair your inverter, you may want to consider purchasing a refurbished Latronics inverter, which comes with a 12-month warranty. Alternatively, you could consider the new Latronics inverters, which come with a three-year warranty and are available at $1500 for the 1.2kW model and $1700 for the 2.5kW model.
If you decide to upgrade to a different brand entirely, there are a few points to consider. Changing the capacity of your inverter could affect your feed-in tariff. In addition the solar panels in Latronics systems are wired in parallel. Therefore you’ll incur additional labour fees if they need to be re-wired to be in series.
