What is the Solar Homes Program?
The Solar Homes Program offers eligible Victorian households rebates and interest-free loans for installing solar panels, batteries, heat pumps or solar hot water systems, to help more Victorians save with solar. Eligible households can apply for a:
- Solar Panel Rebate: A rebate of $1,400 to install solar panels
- Hot Water Rebate: A rebate of $1,000 to install a heat pump or solar hot water system
- Solar Battery Loan: An interest-free loan of up to $8,800 to install a solar battery
Could you be eligible for the Victorian Solar Homes Program rebate?
Solar rebates may be offered to eligible Victorians for existing homes, homes under construction, rental properties, and upgrades to solar PV systems which are over 10 years old. You might also be eligible if you have received a rebate at your old address and have now moved.
Victorian Solar Panel Rebate
You could receive a solar rebate if you meet the following criteria:
- Registered Property Owner: You are the home owner-occupier of an existing or under construction property where the system will be installed
- Maximum Income: Your combined annual household taxable income is $210,000 or less
- Property Value: The property is valued at under $3 million, or will be valued at under $3 million after construction is completion
- Previous Rebates: The property has not previously received a solar panel rebate or solar battery rebate
- Previous System: The property has not had a solar panel system installed in the last 10 years
Victorian Hot Water Rebate
You could receive a hot water rebate if you meet the following criteria:
- Registered Property Owner: You are the home owner-occupier of an existing property where the system will be installed
- Maximum Income: Your combined annual household taxable income is less than $210,000
- Property Value: The property is valued at under $3 million
- Previous Rebates: The property has not previously received a hot water rebate or solar battery rebate
- Previous System: The property's hot water system being replaced is at least three years old from the date of purchase
Victorian Solar Battery Loan
You could receive an interest-free loan if you meet the following criteria:
- Registered Property Owner: You are the home owner-occupier of the property where the system will be installed
- Maximum Income: Your combined annual household taxable income is less than $210,000
- Property Value: The property is valued at under $3 million
- Previous Rebates and Systems: The property has not previously received a solar battery rebate and the property must not already have an existing energy storage system
- System Requirements: The property has a solar panel system with an inverter capacity of 5kW or greater, and a battery with a capacity of 6kWh or greater is purchased from an approved battery systems list. - Install Approval: Pre-approval for safely connecting a battery to the grid is obtained from your Distributed Network Service Provider (DNSP)
